Leave the familiar space.
YOU CAN'T SEE THE FULL PICTURE FROM INSIDE IT
Making a change – a genuine one – requires something most people resist.
It requires leaving.
Leaving the space, the people, the rhythms that have become so familiar you've stopped questioning them.
That familiarity is exactly the problem.
When something has been comfortable long enough, it stops feeling like a constraint. It just feels like life.
The same conversations feel like connection. The same patterns feel like personality. The same environment feels like home.
But familiar and useful are not the same thing.
And when you stay long enough in the same place – surrounded by the same inputs, the same voices, the same ways of looking at what's in front of you – it becomes nearly impossible to see how much of what you're experiencing is the situation.
And how much of it is you.
You cannot see the full picture while you're standing inside it.
This is where it actually begins. In the moment you step outside what has felt safe – a role, a relationship, a way of thinking, a room you've been sitting in for years – and feel the unfamiliar ground beneath your feet.
We have been taught that discomfort is a problem. So we do what we were trained to do – we solve it, remove it, work around it. And in doing so, we miss the only thing it was ever trying to tell us.
That discomfort is not a signal that something is wrong. It's a signal that you've actually left.
The constraints of a familiar situation are hardest to see precisely because they don't feel like constraints. They feel like reality. And reality, by definition, doesn't announce itself as the problem.
Until you step outside it. And then you can't unsee it.
Until next time – unlearning with you,
Natasa
